Losing Hair and How It Affects Women

      If you are a woman dealing with hair loss you know how important it is to find out what may be causing the hair loss to see if it is preventable. When you start to notice more hair in your hairbrush it is time to do something about it. The good news is that a lot of the hair loss in women today is preventable or easily corrected once you find out what is causing the problem. For most women they do not take hair loss seriously until it becomes a problem for them. But in actuality, hair loss is a serious factor to take seriously.

      There are several conditions, illnesses and medications that can cause hair loss or hair loss can be a side effect. Women go through several changes in their lives and those changes may very well be the cause of hair loss. But for most unexpected hair loss it should be talked about with a doctor.

      When you first start noticing your hair loss you may feel different emotions because you are not quite sure why you are losing your hair and how to stop it. Maybe it will eventually stop on its own but if it doesn't then you will need to take extra measures to stop it. Hair loss can make a woman more self conscious about how she looks. She may wonder if others can see her thinning hair too.

      Hair loss may be gradual or it may come on suddenly. Some of the more common reasons for hair loss in women are:

- Hormones
- Aging
- Pregnancy
- Birth Control
- Hereditary

      Although these are the most common reasons for hair loss in women there are several other factors that will play a role in hair loss. Throughout a woman's life she will endure several changes that may or may not result in some form of hair loss or thinning. If you could have looked into a crystal ball when you were younger it would tell you to take care of your hair now to prevent problems later. Even now, it is not too late to start taking better care of your hair and scalp in order to prevent problems in the future.
